Bricker Graydon Mourns the Loss of Partner Sue Yount

Bricker Graydon, and especially the legacy Bricker members of the firm, are in shock and mourning after learning of the sudden passing of former K-12 education attorney and industry leader, Sue Wyskiver Yount. 

Sue, only 63 years young, retired from Bricker & Eckler in December 2020, to spend more time with her family and on her farm, and it was a farm vehicle accident Saturday evening on the farm near Logan, Ohio, in Hocking County that claimed her life. Sue is survived by her husband of 32 years, Brant, and by her three children, Lydia (age 27), Caleb (age 25) and Rachel (age 18).  She is also survived by countless colleagues and clients who knew her not only for her legal proficiency, but also for her faith and kindness.

As an attorney, she was a counselor to many public school district officials, was instrumental in the landmark DeRolph v. State of Ohio school funding case and a respected authority on all aspects of Ohio law pertaining to K-12 schools. Sue’s zealous devotion to the notion of equitable funding for all of Ohio’s public school pupils was an inspiration to her clients, her colleagues, and to the Ohio education community in general. Her outstanding advocacy on behalf of her public school clients will long be remembered.

As a person, Sue was a mentor and friend to many, while also a leader of the Bricker Bible Study group, a sprawling and still growing group of faith followers who gather regularly. In all aspects of her life, she was a consummately good person.
